General Information

Superlative does not come close to describing the career of Abano. The best German trotter of all time was premature but also persistently strong and had a long career. The stallion is a descendant of the Speedy Somolli-father line that stands equally for speed and class. He combined this with great endurance, impeccable gaits, and a fantastic main line. It is therefore of little surprise that he would begin a very promising breeding career.

Abano As debuted when he was two years old and was immediately the best in his cohort. Over the course of his career he was one of the determining factors in the international trotting scene until his focus was shifted in his seventh year to a career in breeding.

Pedigree

Dylan Lobell was successful as a racing horse (2. Matron Stakes) in America and Europe. As the son of Speedy Somolli, the first worldwide "Speed Sire," he appeared certain for a successful career in breeding, but because of his death in 2002 this career was relatively short. Nevertheless, he spawned winning horses such as Ambassador As (1.12,5, 360.487 €), Irish Fire (1.13,0, 157.785 €), Vincenz (1.12,4, 801.560 SEK) and others.

Abano As is almost exclusively American-bred (he was less than 5% French blood) and is from the breeding line of the Super Bowl Phenomenon (4 + 4). Well-known international examples from the breeding line of this Triple Crown winner are Triton Sund (1.09,9, 15.351.275 SEK) Corleone Kosmos (1.09,2, 2.078.836 $), Pilger Taj (1.09,7, 996.748 $) and Unforgettable (1.09,9, 875.629 €).

Also the influence of his grandfather Meadow Road cannot be underestimated. As a stud he spawned, among others, Amigo Hall, Malabar Man, Mr. Muscleman, Ottey Boko, Rise And Shine and Seaside.
